Hatching Easter Egg Clothespin Craft

I needed an easy, inexpensive Easter craft for my son's 2nd grade class party and found some cute clothespin hatching eggs on Pinterest. None of them had tutorials, so after some trial and error, I came up with a simple craft that the kids loved. I have been doing crafts for elementary school class parties for over 10 years and this has been the biggest hit by far.

Step 1:

Gather the supplies:

Easter egg coloring page. I used one from BestColoringPages.com

White card stock to print the coloring page on.

Colored pencils, markers, or crayons

Yellow card stock for the chicks (You can color some orange for the beaks)

Elmer's glue or glue stick

Step 2:

Color the easter egg and cut it out. 

Cut it jagged in half.

Step 3:
Cut out an egg shape chick from the yellow card stock. Color some of the card stock orange and cut out a small triangle for the beak. Glue the beak on and draw eyes, cheeks, and anything else your chick needs.

Step 4:
glue the bottom part of the chick onto the bottom of the egg.

Step 5:
Adults only: Put a small dab of hot glue on the top and bottom tip of the clothespin. Carefully place the bottom and top of the egg on the tip of the clothespin.

Now enjoy your hatching clothespin Easter chick and make her some friends!
